Installing a new security tagging system for a luxury fashion brand in London
The Client
Thomas Pink have been a well-loved brand of luxury shirts since the 1980s – after being set up by the Mullen brothers in 1984, it quickly established itself as a maker of high-quality men's and women's fashions. By 1999, the brand was sold to the parent company of Louis Vuitton for £48 million.
Despite building up a strong portfolio of stores around the UK, the brand was put up for sale in 2020 and their stores were closed as part of a restructuring plan. Resuming trading for 2022, Thomas Pink set up a new store on Jermyn Street – a famous thoroughfare for tailors –and approached Tagmax to build them a security tagging system based on our previous work and reputation amongst fashion retailers.
The Project and Solution
Thomas Pink required the use of both hard tags and sticky labels as part of a discreet tagging system. These are particularly good for retailers who have certain aesthetics to up keep, need the floor space or simply want to maintain a less 'watchful' atmosphere in-store.
As such, we installed a 'buried' security tagging system that would sit under the shop floor – these systems are just as effective as visible pedestals and work in virtually the same way.
We performed the installation in two parts:
- First, we installed the cables under shop floor, which saved time and gave the shop fitters the room to perform their own jobs.
- We returned to do the second fix 6 weeks later (when the shop was fitted out) to finish the system and to test it out.
Everything was working well, and we quickly got staff up to speed on how to use their new clothing tagging system. We're delighted to say that Thomas Pink were able to reopen on time and without lingering worries about their products not being protected.
