How We Created A Security Tagging System In London For Claire's
The Client.
Claire's is a worldwide retailer of accessories, jewellery, and toys primarily aimed towards pre-teen and teengirls. Founded in Illinois, USA in 1961, the company has over 2000 stores in 17 countries – in 2022, the brand went public with an initial public offering.
In the UK, Claire's has 293 stores as of February 2023, with their new Oxford Street store undoubtedly being a standout– what with the Central London street being arguably the country's premier shopping destination.
This project represented the eighth Claire's UK store Tagmax has fitted out with a security tagging system – our previous work speaking for itself as we continue to build a strong relationship with the company.
The Solution
Claire's look to install tagging systems in their more 'high-risk' sites, so the popular Oxford Street thoroughfare was an obvious choice. Our task was to install a tagging system that suited the building's exit width – so we installed a dual pedestal from our 'Optimum' range.
This is an acousto-magnetic system that has outstanding detection which allows for superb tracking of tags – and reduces the number of false alarms too. Its integrated system can even be equipped with features such as people counting, metal detection and magnet detection.
The work was a standard installation for us; we had to liaise with the site foreman to arrange for the running of cables and the installation. We performed a 'first fix' early on, with the installation of the cables before undertaking a 'second fix' later on, as we installed the system itself.
The job went ahead without any issues and the client was very happy with the work and the shop was able to open as planned. With all our jobs, we offer a maintenance agreement on top of the standard 1-year warranty – this agreement will see us return to the site year after year to check on the health of the system and ensure it is running effectively. This is something that the client is considering taking out.
